BIO

Jeanie, a New York City–based actor, has performed on both coasts in regional theaters, off-Broadway productions, network TV, and independent films. Her voice-over work includes audiobook narration and regional commercials, and her print work has appeared in national magazines.

Jeanie’s impressive range means she is at home with comedy or drama, on stage or on camera. She plays the person everyone calls for comfort and advice: She’s equally authentic and captivating as a wacky bohemian mom or an overbearing mother, a commanding judge or sympathetic teacher.

She also founded and was the Artistic Director of Margreta Stage Company for six seasons. In that role, she produced and directed plays and play readings, and worked with playwrights to develop new works for the stage.

Jeanie earned an MFA from the American Conservatory Theater and has continued her training with teachers such as Patsy Rodenburg, the late John Barton, Amy Gossels, Joe Rubin, and Anthony Grasso.

What’s impressed me most about Jeanie Kanaley onstage is that her feet are permanently planted in truth. Whatever the character, whatever the range, listening or speaking: that truth never lets go. It’s a beautiful thing. And speaking of beautiful, hello Jeanie Kanaley.

Jeanie Kanaley has earned my highest respect as a director: she can command large casts, she is insightful about the material, and clear on technical needs. She measures up to the superb directors I've had the honor to work with.

David Hays, Award-winning Set & Lighting Designer, Director, Founder, National Theater for the Deaf, Author of New York Times best seller “My Old Man and The Sea”

Jeanie Kanaley immersed herself in the development of my play "Wild Black Yonder" -- helping to shape it, sharpen it, and ultimately stage it for audiences that witnessed her astonishing talent for turning words on a page into drama that makes them laugh, cry and think in new ways -- in short, SRO testimony to her theatrical wizardry.
Lary Bloom, National-award winning Author, Playwright and New York Times Contributor
